Fastenal buying Holo-Krom
Wow. Just when I thought things would slow down for the holidays and there would be no news on fasteners I read this:

It will be interesting to see how Fastenal's penny-pinching ways will go over at an apparently old school place like Holo-Krome. Fastenal was probably their biggest current customer anyway, so this makes some sense.

TS, This just confirms all the talk in Asia for the past several months that Fastenal was going to buy Holo-Krome. Question now, "Who is next?" There will be others!
Fastenal now has all that "transaction history" for their Holo-Krome standard socket screw product line and the specials for the distributors and OEMs. There will be a hell of a lot of re-sourcing of socket screws, both standards and specials. For Brighton-Best, EZ Sockets, Agrati, Kerr-Lakeside, Safety Socket, the importers and others there maybe a pick-up in their business in the very near future. Some domestic cold heading operations may see some new inquiries for the specials. Some will probably go over seas. Interesting times, and I don't think this will be the last one to affect the way distributors are going to do and source and re-source business in 2010

I agree. It will be very interesting to see what stocking Holo-Krome distributors will do. Will Fastenal leave Holo-Krome alone to some degree or do they just go out and say "if you want Holo-Krome call one of our branches"? And, do Holo-Krome customers wait to find the answer or do they re-source? Will be interesting. Indeed, who is next?
